JOB - 15cBOOKTRADE: Postdoctoral Researcher, The British Library, London, The 15th-century Book Trade: An Evidence-based Assessment and Visualization of the Distribution, Sale, and Reception of Books in the Renaissance. The appointment will be on salary scale Grade 7. The salary range will be £29,837-£36,661 per annum.
This post has been created as part of the ERC-funded, international project 15cBOOKTRADE, directed by Dr Cristina Dondi (click here). This is a full time post for four years and the post-holder will be based in the British Library. The project team will consist of the PI, the project administrator, 3 postdoctoral researchers (based in Oxford, the British Library, and Venice), and 1 Oxford doctoral student.
Responsibilities include entering provenance records of incunabula into the MEI database, as well as enhancing the ISTC database. The researcher will also contribute original research toward the preparation of an in-depth monograph co-authored by the PI and the other project researchers.
Applicants must have completed Humanities Doctoral degree or demonstrable equivalent experience. Excellent palaeographical skills and experience in the analysis of the contents of books from the Classical to the Renaissance period are essential, as well as fluency in written and spoken English, another European language, and good knowledge of Latin. Knowledge of other classical languages will be an advantage, as well as familiarity with IT and the digital humanities. Effective organisational and written and verbal communication skills are also essential.
