JOB: Full-time Teaching Fellow in History of Art, University of Birmingham, College of Arts and Law (School of Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music). Salary: £28,695 to £39,685 Pro rata a year. Maternity cover, fixed Term for 12 months starting 1 May 2015. Job Ref: 44494Z15.

The Department of Art History, Film and Visual Studies at the University of Birmingham seeks to appoint a Teaching Fellow in History of Art on a 12 month fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave, starting 1 May 2015. With History of Art teaching experience and expertise in the late medieval and/or early modern period (c. 1400-1600), you will hold a PhD in a relevant field or be very close to the submission and examination of a doctoral thesis.

In addition to undertaking some departmental administrative responsibilities, the post holder will be expected to teach on the History of Art undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and, if appropriate, related programmes in the College of Arts and Law. In addition to supervising some History of Art BA and MA dissertations and setting and marking assessments, you will be expected to teach all or part of the following modules:

* Women and Artistic Culture in the Late Medieval and Early Modern Period (MA and Final Year BA)
* Ideas of the Renaissance (1st year BA)
* Debates and Methods in the History of Art (1st year BA)
* Research Techniques in the History of Art (2nd year BA)
* Power, Society, Politics: Religious Art in Northern Europe, c. 1450-1600 (2nd Year BA).
