JOB: Head of Rare Books, Cambridge University Library, Cambridge (UK). Salary Range: £38,511-£48,743. Grade: 9. Reference: VE06119.
The Library invites applications for the position of Head of Rare Books to lead the Department at a time of exciting change. S/he will be responsible for the strategic planning of the Department of Rare Books and for providing leadership in the development of services to support the 21st century student and researcher, in both traditional and digital media. The post offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional to make a mark and enhance the contribution to scholarship at Cambridge, nationally and internationally of one of the world’s great collections of rare books.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and outward looking, with excellent organisational and communication skills, relevant management experience, and demonstrable achievement and vision in the promotion and development of rare book collections and services. S/he should have a good honours degree, research experience in a relevant area and/or a professional qualification in librarianship, together with experience of working with a major rare book collection in an academic/research library, in a role with significant staff management responsibility.
